Write-in candidates need to file by 4 p.m. on Friday

Candidates encouraged to apply early, in case of application mistakes

VoteFRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2014) — The deadline to file to be a write-in candidate for the Nov. 4 General Election is 4 p.m. on Friday. Interested candidates are encouraged to write-in as soon as possible, in case filing papers need to be corrected, said Secretary of State Alison Lundergran Grimes.

Write-in candidates for any office must file a Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate and pay a statutorily prescribed filing fee, pursuant to Kentucky law. Write-in votes cast for individuals who have not satisfied the filing requirements will not be counted.
