Interstate access to be restricted in Louisville beginning tonight

Some ramps to be closed until Sunday morning

I65 shieldLOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 24, 2014) — Drivers headed to I-71 North from the Kennedy Interchange in Downtown Louisville this weekend will face restricted access. The ramp from I-65 North/I-65 South to I-71 North and the ramp from I-64 East to I-71 North are scheduled to close at 9 p.m. tonight and re-open at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Detour signs will direct traffic to I-264. Local traffic can use surface streets to access I-71 at Zorn Avenue.

During the closures, crews with Walsh Construction will be moving barrier wall, installing crash cushions and doing striping work.

When downtown access to I-71 North reopens on Sunday morning, the shift will be complete with northbound traffic moved onto new roadway in the area.

Access to I-71 North will be restored in advance of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Waterfront Park and the University of Louisville Red-White scrimmage. Both events are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
