Louisville Yellow Cab adds splash of green

Area’s largest taxi company adds eight Toyota Prius taxis to its fleet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 28, 2014) – The color green will be decaled on eight taxicabs hitting Louisville streets today.

TaxiProcarent, the company that operates Louisville Yellow Cab, announced the rollout of eight Toyota Hybrid Prius’ and their plans to add more hybrid vehicles to their fleet each year. The new taxicabs also boast a fun and modern design that incorporates Yellow Cab’s signature yellow branding but with accents of green to highlight the hybrids.

Yellow Cab, which has operated in Louisville for over 100 years, is the largest taxicab company in the city. The eight Prius’ will be added to the company’s fleet of over 250 vehicles. The rollout of these hybrids is the first step in its ongoing efforts to add more eco-friendly vehicles to its fleet. These cabs also offer a new service to Louisvillians looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

“We are excited about the roll-out of these hybrids as a part of Yellow Cab’s efforts to transition to a greener fleet,” said Steve Coston, president of Procarent. “The Prius is not only a great car but the addition of these eight cabs allows us to cater to the growing number of our customers that are concerned with protecting the environment of our vibrant community.”

The Toyota Prius was the first widely available hybrid vehicle sold worldwide and has been rated by the EPA among the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States.
