Event is March 10-11
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2015) — The High-Performance Sustainable Schools Workshop, scheduled from March 10-11, is designed to teach how energy efficient, high-performance buildings rescue a school district’s bottom line and accelerate students’ career paths.
Registration is currently open through the Kentucky National Energy Education Development (NEED) website.
“Whether a school district has a comprehensive energy plan or is just getting started, this workshop offers practical strategies that work for Kentucky’s schools,” said Greg Guess of the Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence. “Our holistic, integrated approach to high-performance school design and operation has played a key role in reducing energy costs and redirecting savings back to school budgets. In fact, Kentucky’s schools are using less energy today than they were four years ago, even though the conditioned space in school districts has increased over 5 million square feet.”
On March 10 professionals from all aspects of school design, construction and operation will share their experiences and project initiatives to achieve high-performance facilities. Topics include: Advancing energy education; sustainability skills for the 21st century; reducing building costs through high-performance policies; energy management and operations.
On March 11 participants will tour two high-performance sustainable schools in the Jessamine County School District: Red Oak Elementary School and Wilmore Elementary School.
Attendees are eligible to earn Effective Instructional Leader Approval (EILA) continuing education units for attending one or both days of the workshop.
