Part of program to teach English as a second language
MIDWAY, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2015) — Midway College will host 24 teachers from Panama for eight weeks of professional development as part of program called Bilingual Panama.
The program was implemented by Panamanian President Juan Carlos Valera to ensure that the country’s citizens become fluent in English and Spanish. Valera has committed to send 1,000 teachers per year for the next five years to study English and second-language teaching methods.
Midway College is offering the visiting teachers a holistic program that will provide English language instruction, teaching methodology, site visits to area schools and extracurricular activities.
