Baptist Health Louisville opens new PET/CT imaging site

Offers most accurate diagnostic imaging procedure for diagnosing and staging cancers

LOUISIVILLE, Ky. (April 10, 2015) — Baptist Health Louisville recently opened the doors on a new PET/CT Imaging site at the Charles and Mimi Osborn Cancer Center in Louisville.

baptistAs part of the relocation and renovation, a new Siemens Biograph mCT, an innovative positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner was installed. It offers exceptional patient comfort, with a large, patient-friendly opening. With the open design and faster scan times, patients feel more comfortable and less claustrophobic.

PET/CT offers the most accurate diagnostic imaging procedure available for diagnosing and staging cancers.

PET and molecular imaging technology allow physicians to measure cell and molecular activity within the body to detect cancer, heart disease and neurological disorders. PET/CT scanners combine the anatomical imaging supplied by CT with the confirmation of increased molecular and cellular activity provided by PET that may signal disease. By combining these two advanced technologies, PET/CT scanners give physicians more diagnostic confidence while improving patient management.
