Kentucky to celebrate Law Day Monday in Frankfort

135 new attorneys to be sworn in

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 1, 2015) — The Supreme Court of Kentucky will join communities and states nationwide celebrating Law Day at the Kentucky State Capitol in the Rotunda at 10 a.m. on Monday.

lawday_800Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr. will open a special court session. Kentucky’s native son, General William K. Suter, 19th Clerk of the Supreme Court of the United States, will make remarks on the Law Day Theme of: “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law”. General Suter will receive, “the Liberty Bell Award,” for his service to the Court of Justice and the commonwealth.

Following General William Suter’s remarks, a swearing-in ceremony for 135 new attorneys will be conducted. Honorable William E. Johnson, president of the Kentucky Bar Association, will make remarks and present the new attorneys to the assemblage. Susan Stokley Clary, clerk of the Supreme Court, will administer the Constitutional Oath.
