EKU President to discuss campus projects, opportunities for partnerships

Richmond, Ky. – Have you driven by or through the Eastern Kentucky University campus lately and wondered about all the changes?

Have you heard talk about more changes to come?

EKU President Michael Benson, whose mantra has been “Make No Little Plans,” will discuss campus ongoing revitalization initiatives, future plans, and opportunities to expand partnerships with the City of Richmond at a Town and Gown Vision 2020 Forum on Tuesday, June 30. Local officials will also be on the stage to participate in the discussion. The public is invited to the event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the main hall of the EKU Center for the Arts.

“We look forward to the forum as we discuss ways in which EKU can better partner with our city and county to help propel the community ahead,” Benson said. “We welcome citizens’ input and hope they will come and share their perspectives with us.”
At its regular meeting on June 22, EKU’s Board of Regents approved the University’s strategic plan, entitled “Make No Little Plans: A Vision for 2020.” The plan focuses on six strategic goals: Academic Excellence, Commitment to Student Success, Institutional Distinction, Financial Strength, Campus Revitalization and Service to Communities and Region.
Benson’s remarks will include a multimedia presentation that details many of the University’s projects and plans. Members of the audience will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
“We want an open dialogue with local officials and the community,” said David McFaddin, executive director of government relations and regional stewardship. “We have great opportunities to partner together.”
Refreshments will be served at the event.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP at gov.eku.edu (see a link to the Forum in the Upcoming Events section).
