Gov. Beshear makes appointments to boards and commissions

Appointments announced today

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 26, 2015) — Gov. Steve Beshear has made the appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions. (Note: The appointments to Kentucky higher education boards are effective July 1, 2015, unless otherwise noted.)

kentucky_seal_resized2Appointed as a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Craig M. King, of Nicholasville, is president and CEO of R.J. Corman Railroad Group. The appointment replaces Janie Miller, whose term has expired.

Appointed as a member a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Nancy M. Collins, of Hazard, is an attorney with Hollon and Collins.

Reappointed as members members of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Mindy Barfield, of Lexington, is an attorney with Dinsmore & Shohl LLP.
  • Syamala H. K. Reddy, of Hazard, is a physician.

Appointed as a member of the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • William Lee Scheben, of Union, is a banker with Heritage Bank. The appointment replaces Brenda Wilson, whose term has expired.

Reappointed as a member of the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Dennis Repenning, of Walton, is an attorney.

Appointed as members of the Morehead State University Board of Regents to serve for a terms expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Wayne Martin, of Winchester, is a consultant. The appointment replaces Julie A. Butcher, whose term has expired.
  • Eric E. Howard, of Lexington, is human resources manager for Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The appointment replaces John Cruse Merchant, whose term has expired.

Appointed as a member of the Murray State University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Jerry P. Rhoads, of Madisonville, is a former state senator. The appointment replaces Constantine W. Curris, whose term has expired.

Reppointed as a member of the Murray State University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Sharon L. Green, of Mayfield, is a crime victims advocate with the Graves County Attorney’s Office.

Appointed as members of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Frank Shoop, of Lexington, is an auto dealer. The appointment replaces James Stuckert, whose term has expired
  • Claude A. “Skip” Berry, of Eminence, is chairman of the Wehr Constructors Inc. Kentucky division. The appointment replaces Carol Martin “Bill” Gatton, whose term has expired.

Appointed as a member of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Barbara S. Young, of Lexington, previously owned and operated Ashwood Travel Agency.

Appointed as members of the University of Louisville Board of Trustees to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Paul J. Diaz, of Louisville, is executive vice chairman for Kindred Healthcare Inc. The appointment replaces Kevin Cosby, whose term has expired.
  • Larry M. Hayes, of Louisville, is secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. The appointment replaces Phoebe Wood, whose term has expired.

Reappointed as a member of the University of Louisville Board of Trustees to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Dr. Laurence Benz, of Louisville, is CEO of PT Development LLC.

Reappointed as members of the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2021.

  • Frederick Higdon, of Lebanon, is commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
  • Phillip Bale, of Glasgow, is a physician.

Appointed to the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.

  • Karl Russell Cheuvront, of Louisville, is director of community relations for Brown-Forman.

Appointed as members of the Council on Postsecondary Education (effective June 26, 2015):

  • Mark D. Guilfoyle, of Edgewood, is an attorney with Deters Benzinger LaVelle PSC. The appointment replaces Arnold Taylor, whose term has expired. Guilfoyle shall serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2020.
  • Brenda H. McGown, of Bowling Green, is an instructional issues specialist with the Kentucky Education Association. The appointment replaces Carolyn M. Ridley, who resigned. McGown shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2017.
  • W. Bruce Ayers,  of Cumberland, is a retired community college president. The appointment replaces Joseph B. Wise, who resigned. Ayers shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2016.

Reappointed as a member of the Council on Postsecondary Education to serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2020.

  • Joe Graviss, of Versailles, is owner of Graviss McDonald’s Restaurants.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring July 21, 2021 (effective July 22, 2015).

  • James Lee Stevens, of Dawson Springs, is a former superintendent of Hopkins County Schools. The appointment replaces Doris Thomas, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring July 21, 2021, (effective July 22, 2015).

  • Gail Henson, of Louisville, is a professor at Bellarmine University.

Appointed as a member of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority.

  • Carol C. Gault, of Paducah, is a city commissioner. The appointment replaces Kenneth G. Canter, who resigned. Gault shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 6, 2015.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board to serve for a term expiring June 20, 2017.

  • Mark C. Claxton, of LaCenter, is a supervisory natural resources manager with the U. S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, and is LaCenter Rural Fire Department chief.) The appointment replaces Paul Whitman, whose term has expired. Claxton represents emergency services.

Reappointed the following as members of the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board, to serve for terms expiring June 20, 2017:

  • Christian R. Ulrich, of Wilmore, is an officer with Lexington Fire Department and represents emergency services.
  • Jodi. L. Carroll, of Pineville, is director of service learning and leadership at Union College and represents mental health disciplines.
  • Hank A. Cecil, of Mayfield, is a social worker for Four Rivers Behavioral Health and represents mental health disciplines.
  • Michael E. Freville, of Louisville, is a mental health counselor with Magellan Healthcare and represents mental health disciplines.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Paul D. Lashbrooke as a member of the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.

  • Paul D. Lashbrooke, of Dixon, is Webster County Water District superintendent. He represents the Kentucky Rural Water Association. The appointment replaces Damon R. Talley, whose term has expired.

Reappointed as a member of the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, representing for-profit private water companies.

  • Linda C. Bridwell, of Lexington, is an engineer with Kentucky American Water. She shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.

Appointed as members of the Board of Nursing, effective July 1, 2015, to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2019:

  • Lewis L. Perkins, of Goshen, is vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer at (at Norton Hospital.  He represents the registered nurses from the Kentucky Nurses Association and replaces Nicholas Hammonds, whose term has expired.
  • Lucy M. McDowell, of Louisville, is a nurse and admission coordinator at Kindred Hospital. She represents the Kentucky Licensed Practical Nurses Organization and replaces Kathy Burr, whose term has expired.

Reappointed the following as members of the Board of Nursing, effective July 1, 2015, to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2019:

  • Michelle C. Dunn, of Prospect, represents citizens at large.
  • Kelly R. Jenkins, of Waverly, is a registered nurse and director of patient care at Methodist Hospital. She represents a registered nurse who is a nurse service administrator from the Kentucky Organization of Nursing Leaders.

Reappointed the following as members of the State Board of Auctioneers, effective July 1, 2015, to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2018:

  • Joseph R. Gribbins, of Jeffersontown, is an auctioneer at Wardlow Auctions Inc.
  • James R. Bush, of Elizabethtown, is a self-employed auctioneer
  • Clarence A. Yancey, of Louisville, is retired and represents citizens at large.

Reappointed the following as members of the Reclamation Guaranty Fund Commission, effective July 2, 2015, to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2019:

  • William L. Adams, of Frankfort, is president and CEO of Cumberland Surety Inc. He represents persons with a background in insurance and banking industries with knowledge of the coal industry.
  • Henry Michael Ivey, of Hazard, is vice president of Locust Grove Inc. He represents permittees that participate in the fund and has mined and sold less than 1 million tons of coal.

Reappointed the following as members of the Kentucky Board of Prosthetics, Orthotics and Pedorthics, effective July 2, 2015, to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2018:

  • Edward H. Gildehaus, of Lexington, is an orthotist, prosethetist and Pedorthist at Central Brace & Prosthetics, Inc.
  • Paul O. Hatcher, of Richmond, is a certified prosthetist and orthotist at Central Brace & Prosthetics, Inc.

Reappointed the following as members of the Southern States Energy Board to serve for terms expiring Feb. 8, 2017:

  • Rep. Rocky Adkins, of Sandy Hook, representing the Kentucky House of Representatives.
  • Sen. Brandon Smith, of Hazard, representing the Kentucky State Senate.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education, representing the public at large.

  • Stephanie M. Gudger of Versailles, is employed by Hope Center Inc. The appointment replaces Monica M. Hall, who resigned. Gudger shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 21, 2016.

Reappointed the following as members of the Motor Vehicle Commission, effective July 2, 2015, to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2018:

  • Charles J. Coldiron, of Somerset, is an auto dealer with Somerset Automotive Group. He represents the 3rd Supreme Court District and used motor vehicle dealers.
  • Raymond H. Cottrell Sr., of Guston, is the owner of Ray’s Ford. He represents the 2nd Supreme Court District and new motor vehicle dealers.
  • Josephine  L. Shoop, of Lexington, is an auto executive with Frank Shoop Chevrolet Buick. She represents the 5th Supreme Court District and new motor vehicle dealers.
  • Doug Dotson, of Benton, is a used car dealer. He represents the 1st Supreme Court District and used motor vehicle dealers.

Appointed as members of the Kentucky Board of Dentistry effective July 1, 2015:

  • Tonia M. Socha-Mower, of Lexington, is a dental hygienist at White House Clinics. She represents dental hygienists. The appointment replaces Mara Beth Womack, whose term has expired. Socha-Mower shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.
  • Jeffrey Lucas Bowen, of Lexington, is a pediatric dentist at Bluegrass Pediatric Dentistry. He represents licensed dentists. The appointment replaces Sidney W. Brantley, whose term has expired. Dr. Bowen shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.
  • Yvonne D. Bach, of Louisville, is an associate publisher and editor at Louisville Defender. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Stephanie M. Gudger, who resigned. Bach shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2016.
  • Sidney M. Brantley, of Paducah, is an orthodontist. He represents licensed dentists. The appointment replaces Katherine King, who resigned. Dr. Brantley shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2017.

Reappointed, effective July 1, 2015, to serve on the Kentucky Board of Dentistry for a term expiring June 30, 2019.

  • Jason Edward Ford, of Lexington, is an oral surgeon at Kentucky Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Reappointed the following as members of the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corp. Board of Directors:

  • Wayne Hunt, of Herndon, is the president of H&R Agri-Power. He represents cash grain farmers. He shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 4, 2019.
  • Marshall F. McAninch, of Liberty, is a farmer and represents tobacco farmers. He shall serve for a term expiring June 26, 2019.
  • Douglas E. Lawson, of Murray, is employed by Heritage Bank. He represents commercial lending officers. He shall serve for a term expiring June 26, 2019.

Appointed as members of the Advisory Council for Medical Assistance:

  • Charlotte M. Whittaker, of Hartford, is retired. She represents the elderly and shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2016.
  • Eric W. Wright, of Louisville, represents medical assistant recipients. The appointment replaces Sheina C. Murphy, whose term has expired. Wright shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2019.

Reappointed the following as members of the Advisory Council for Medical Assistance to serve for terms expiring April 15, 2019:

  • Elizabeth Partin, of Columbia, is a nurse practitioner. She represents the Kentucky Nurses Association.
  • Peggy S. Roark, of Nicholasville, represents medical assistance recipients.
