Speed limits reduced to 45 mph in some areas

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (July 9, 2015) — Crews continue to work on the Mountain Parkway Expansion near Gifford Road in Magoffin County where they recently removed an overpass that spanned the parkway. Construction of a new bridge that will cross the parkway has begun and will continue throughout July. Crews have also begun building the eastbound bridge over Middle Fork Creek.

parkwayContractors in the area—about five miles west of Salyersville—are continuing excavations to widen the parkway corridor for its planned expansion to four lanes.

The speed limit in the area has been reduced to 45 mph. Traffic on the parkway continues to be stopped periodically for the safety of workers and travelers, causing short delays for travelers.

Contractors working around the KY 7/Salyersville interchange—immediately west of Salyersville—have cleared trees and started site work. Utility companies are relocating communications and power lines in advance of construction work. Work in this area is not expected to affect traffic.
