Hebron, Ky. – Today, at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), Allegiant Travel Company announced their plans to establish a base of operation beginning Jan. 6, 2016. Allegiant will base up to three 156-seat Airbus 319 aircraft at CVG, creating jobs for pilots, flight attendants and airport service personnel.
When it opens in January, Cincinnati will become Allegiant’s 14th aircraft base and is estimated to employ over 90 flight crew and airport personnel locally. CVG is the largest origination market in Allegiant’s network and a Top 5 market in their overall airport system.
Along with the base announcement, Allegiant is also adding five additional weekly flights to its fall and winter schedule, increasing frequencies to some of its most popular destinations from CVG. This includes extended service to Savannah/Hilton Head through Nov. 29. Allegiant is adding flights to Las Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa Bay/St.Pete.

Allegiant started service from CVG in February 2014 with four weekly flights to two destinations. Currently, Allegiant offers more than 35 weekly flights to 11 year-round or seasonal destinations.
“The Greater Cincinnati area has quickly become one of our strongest markets with a demonstrated demand for low-cost vacation travel,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company senior vice president of planning. “The establishment of an aircraft base at CVG will further increase the efficiency of our operations, while continuing our drive to be Cincinnati’s leading low-fare carrier.”

In February 2014, Allegiant carried approximately 2,800 new monthly passengers generating a handful of new jobs. Now, 18 months later, Allegiant is averaging over 25,000 new passengers a month and creating almost 100 new good paying jobs at the airport. The entire Tri-State region has embraced the new low cost travel options at CVG and thanks to their support, new carriers are looking to establish themselves in our community on a long term basis.
