Kentucky tourism cabinet issues RFPs for lodging facilities in two state parks

Frankfort, Ky. – The Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet today issued two requests for proposal (RFP) seeking developer-operators for lodging facilities at sites in Pulaski and Bell counties.

The Pulaski County site would be located at General Burnside Island State Park. There have been previous efforts to seek privately developed lodging at the park, including in 2014. This latest request seeks proposals for a developmental master plan that will ultimately make General Burnside Island a premier tourism destination. The builder and operator would have the option of including a restaurant, convention facility, swimming pool and other related amenities the respondent deems feasible in the master plan.

The project could be eligible for state tourism incentives through the state Tourism Development Finance Authority. The incentive is a tax rebate of up to 50 percent of the investment amount over a 10-year period.

The Bell County site would be located at Wasioto Winds Golf Course. The golf course is located along U.S. 25E in Pineville and is part of Pine Mountain State Resort Park. The successful bidder would have the option of managing the 18-hole golf course. The existing lodge at the park will continue operations.

The project could be eligible for state tourism incentives through the state Tourism Development Finance Authority. The incentive is a tax rebate of up to 50 percent of the investment amount over a 10-year period.

The deadline for submitting proposals to each request is Sept. 15, 2015.
