LEXINGTON, Ky. — Bethany Dewsnap of Liberty Elementary School in Lexington has been selected as the state’s 2015 School Social Worker of the Year. She will be honored during the Kentucky Association for School Social Work’s conference luncheon Sept. 24 in Lexington and during the Midwest conference Oct. 1-2 in Omaha, Neb.
“What makes Bethany a natural choice for this recognition is that she is empathetic, caring, hard-working, intelligent and honest, and truly has a commitment to reducing barriers so that all children are college and career ready,” said Velva Reed Barker, who coordinates social workers in Fayette County Public Schools. “She is extremely enthusiastic, professional and compassionate. Bethany works well with both children and adults and is a leader as well as a team player. She is an absolute joy to work with.”
