At Red River Gorge Oct. 9-11
SLADE, Ky. (Sept. 11, 2015) — Rocktoberfest, an annual climbing event sponsored by the Red River Gorge Climbers’ Coalition, will be held Oct. 9-11 at Red River Gorge.
Rocktoberfest, which features climbing competitions, climbing clinics, vendor booths, films and music, is part of this year’s Kentucky Outdoor Adventure Games.
“Red River Gorge is one of the world’s premier sport climbing destinations,” said Josephine Sterr, president of the Red River Gorge Climbers’ Coalition. “People come from all over the world to climb at the Red River Gorge.”
The Rocktoberfest competitions feature climbers earning points for climbing the most routes over a specified time period. With hundreds of natural standstone arches and massive amounts of sandstone and clifflines, the Red River Gorge is a perfect climbing destination.
Rocktoberfest headquarters will be located near the rest area at Exit 33 off the Mountain Parkway at Slade.
