FedEx considering $200 million expansion of Northern Kentucky hub

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2015) — FedEx Ground Package System Inc. is considering a nearly $200 million expansion of its Northern Kentucky hub to manage a projected increase in package volume and to provide relief to a nearby hub reaching capacity, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority announced today. The Northern Kentucky hub is located in Boone County.

fedexFedEx anticipates investing $199,275,000 in the project, with $97.8 million on electronic processing equipment, $93.3 million on building construction, $7 million on land and $1.175 million on start-up costs.

FedEx has been approved for a tax incentive of $1.75 million, with $1 million on construction materials and building fixtures and $750,000 on R&D and/or electronic processing equipment.
