Baptist Health hosting free series on dementia

Brainworks begins Oct. 7

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 25, 2015) — Baptist Health Medical Group Neurology and Baptist Health HealthwoRx will offer a free, four-week educational series in October for people who have been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia. Caregivers also are welcome.

baptistBrainworks at HealthwoRx is scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m. each Wednesday in October at Baptist Health HealthwoRx in Lexington Green Mall. Each program is designed to offer attendees information to help them live well and take control of their health.

Brainworks schedule:

  • Oct. 7 – “Living Well with a Diagnosis of MCI or Dementia,” Greg Cooper, MD, PhD, neurologist with Baptist Health Medical Group Neurology and the Memory Care Clinic
  • Oct. 14 – “Eat, Move, Live: How Food and Movement Protect Memory,” Melanie Johnson, MS, RD, LD, HealthwoRx dietitian, and Grant Gensheimer, MS, CPT,  HealthwoRx exercise physiologist
  • Oct. 21 – “Mind Over Matter: Strategies for Memory and Thinking,” Kacie Gamm, MS, CCC-SLP and Sarah Groppo-Lawless, MS, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathology at Baptist Health Lexington
  • Oct. 28 – “Coping and Adjusting to a Memory-Loss Diagnosis,” Stephanie Freeman, MSSW, Baptist Health Medical Group Neurology, and April Stauffer, MS, Alzheimer’s Association
