KCTCS appoints new president of Jefferson Community and Technical College

Versailles, Ky. – Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Jay K. Box announced today the appointment of Dr. Ty J. Handy as president of Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC).

Handy is an experienced leader who has served as president of Northwest Florida State College since 2010. Among his numerous other leadership positions, Handy served as president of Vermont Technical College, chancellor at Ivy Tech State College in Indiana and chief academic officer and dean for academic affairs at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College from 1993-1998.

“I’m pleased to welcome Dr. Handy back to Kentucky and to KCTCS,” Box said.  “His background and experience make him the right fit to lead JCTC. I’m sure he’ll do great things there.”

Handy earned a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Memphis. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from Drexel University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Western Kentucky University.

“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead such an outstanding college,” Handy said. “JCTC has a terrific faculty and staff and an actively engaged Board and Foundation Board. I’m looking for to working with them and meeting our students.”

Handy will begin his duties as JCTC president on Jan. 1.

“Members of the Board and Foundation Board look forward to working hand-in-hand with Dr. Tandy to elevate Jefferson’s profile in the community and to accomplish our goals for student success, workforce readiness and campus transformation, ” said M. Lynn Fischer, JCTC board chair.
