“I believe my hard work and that of my dedicated staff has led the board to make this decision,” said Mason. “As the new executive director, I’m excited about continuing to move the Lyric forward as one of the city’s premiere arts and cultural venues.”

Over the past six months, Mason has been successful in creating a Program Advisory Group at the Lyric. He’s also continued to build strong partnerships with the surrounding neighborhoods and local businesses and has helped make the facility more accessible to the community.

Mason is a graduate of Asbury University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Management & Ethics. His further studies include the Berklee College of Music (Boston, Mass.) and the Southern New Hampshire University, where he is a dual candidate for a master’s certificate in music business and a master’s of business administration degree.

In this role of executive director, Mason is charged with the day-to-day operation of the recently renovated 540-seat theatre. The adjoining Cultural Arts Center houses the DeWeese Street Community Room, an art gallery and museum space. A staff of three full-time and two part-time employees will report to Mason. He will continually be responsible for the cultivation of a local volunteer base and community partnerships.
