NKy businessman appointed to revamped CVG board

ERLANGER, Ky. — Nathan Smith, owner and co-founder of SSK Communities, has been appointed to the 13-member CVG Airport Board of Directors by Gov. Steve Beshear. Smith previously served on the CVG Advisory Board, which no longer exists. Changes in the board structure took effect on July 1 and Smith is the only member appointed by the governor to serve on the board.

“I am honored to serve on the new CVG board and look forward to continuing to push forward progress for the airport that is so important to our local economy,” Smith said. “More carriers are flying in and out of CVG and we expect more competition and flights in the future.”

SSK Communities is the largest manufactured housing company in Kentucky and among the largest in Ohio and in the Midwest with 29 communities. SSK is ranked among the top 30 in the country with over 5,000 homes in their properties’ portfolio. SSK Communities is among the upper tier in the market and among higher-end mobile home properties in the various geographic markets.

Smith recently ended his term serving as the chairman of the board of directors for the national Manufactured Housing Institute, a 300-member industry trade organization, and is past president of the Kentucky Manufacturing Housing Institute and served on the board of the National Manufactured Housing Institute. He also chairs the board of regents at Northern Kentucky University and the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) Board. He resides in Fort Mitchell with is family.
