Startup competition to headline Louisville Global Entrepreneurship Week

$100,000 in funding on the line for top Louisville-area startup

Louisville, Ky. – EnterpriseCorp, the entrepreneurial arm of Greater Louisville Inc., along with the Kentucky Innovation Network is partnering for a week of events with a focus on Global Entrepreneurship that kicks off Monday, Nov. 16th.

The highlight of the week will be the 2015 Vogt Demo Day on Tuesday, November 17th. A dust-less saw with fewer accidents, greener plastics using bamboo, improved natural gas processing, faster and safer intubation procedures, and an on-demand nail polish and gel system that reduces salon waste are the 5 concepts to be presented to regional investors in a November 17th competition to conclude the Vogt Invention and Innovation Awards. The awards were created to help local manufacturing startups transform into viable and successful businesses in our region. The companies make their pitch for an award up to $100,000 in non-diluted grant funding—a startup opportunity with little comparison across the country.

The five finalists have already received a $20,000 development grant, received weekly 1:1 business coaching by the EnterpriseCorp staff, participated  in a 10-week Lean Start-Up course by Nucleus: Kentucky’s Life Sciences and Innovation Center, appointment of professional mentors selected for compatibility to the project, and prototype development resources through the University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering. This includes advanced software, additive manufacturing and 3D rapid prototyping, micro/nano technology and more. Winners also have access to GE’s, FirstBuild Microfactory, University of Louisville’s Rapid Prototyping Center and Micro/Nano Tech Center, LVL1 Hackerspace, and the Louisville Mini Maker Faire.

Louisville was designated one of eleven “Startup Cities”, along with Albuquerque, Austin, Cleveland, Dallas, Durham/Chapel Hill, Kansas City, Miami, San Juan, Tulsa, and Washington, DC for Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week in Louisville is open to the entire community and features the following events:
