According to respondents, bacon is the secret ingredient of choice for green bean casseroles.

Lexington, Ky. – After emerging in the top spot last year, Kentucky has slipped to No. 3 in the Del Monte Green Bean Index, which measures how many tables green bean casseroles will make a cameo this Thanksgiving.

Del Monte asked 3,000 Americans to “go green bean” and rate whether or not they plan to eat the classic green-bean casserole side dish this Thanksgiving.

Over 30 million green bean casseroles grace tables this Thursday, according to the index.

So who is eating the most green bean casserole? Here is a list of U.S. states ranked by the highest concentration of Thanksgiving green-bean casserole eaters:

According to the survey, America’s Top 10 most-wanted secret ingredients for green bean casserole are:

  • 3. Cheese (11%)
  • 4. Grilled Onions (8%)
  • 5. Almonds (7%)
  • 6. Sausage (6%)
