Lexington, Ky. – Dinsmore and Shohl LLP’s Kerry Irwin was elected to the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Horse Council for a three year term.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Irwin will be taking an active role in guiding the Horse Council with respect to programs that fulfill the organization’s mission.

In addition to serving as a Director, Irwin is a member of the Horse Council’s Finance Committee and the Kentucky Equine Networking Association (KENA) Committee. KENA is an initiative sponsored by the Kentucky Horse Council and the University of Kentucky to bring together those in all sectors of the Kentucky horse industry for educational and networking opportunities.

A lifelong horsewoman, Irwin grew up riding hunters. After attending college at the University of Virginia, she taught riding at Chatham Hall, a boarding school in Virginia, before attending the University Of Kentucky College Of Law, where she focused her studies on equine and transactional law.

A corporate attorney and member of Dinsmore & Shohl’s Equine Law Group, Irwin counsels clients on equine law matters related to both the Thoroughbred and sport horse industries, including the drafting of sale and lease contracts and Thoroughbred and sport horse syndication agreements, as well as advising several nonprofit equine breed and rescue associations by providing guidance on internal governance, anti-trust issues, and contracts.
