Former General Cable CEO to join AK Steel board

West Chester, Ohio – AK Steel has announced that the former CEO of General Cable Corporation has been named to its board of directors.

Greg B. Kenny will join the board effective Jan. 1, 2016. Kenny retired from General Cable in June.

General Cable Corporation, based in Highland Heights, Ky., is a leading wire and cable manufacturer and distributor.

Wainscott, Chairman, President and CEO of AK Steel.  “Greg has extensive leadership experience in the manufacturing sector, which will be very beneficial to AK Steel.  We look forward to his many contributions to AK Steel in the years ahead.”

In October, AK Steel announced that the company was idling its blast furnace in Ashland, Ky., and laying off 800 employees.
