One Southern Indiana accepting nominations for business awards

For Diversity Champion Award and Diversity Excellence Award

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (Jan. 13, 2016) — The One Southern Indiana (1si) Minority & Women Business Owners’ Conference (MWBOC) is accepting nominations for its Diversity Champion Award and Diversity Excellence Award.

one southernThe Diversity Champion Award—which will be awarded to small businesses and large businesses—recognizes businesses who have demonstrated outstanding dedication toward ensuring all people live and work in an environment of equality, respect and fairness.

The Diversity Excellence Award recognizes an excellent disadvantaged, minority owned, woman owned, veteran owned and/or disabled veteran owned business.

Award winners will be announced at the annual conference on April 11 at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center Louisville North.

Nominees will be asked to complete a narrative, not exceeding two pages in length, which will provide the basis for the selection. Emphasis will be on achievement and results; however, nominees can also include documented good faith efforts. The following will also be considered: complexity of the problems addressed; severity of the problems addressed; use of original/innovative/ effective approaches; impact of contributions; and contributions to the attainment of the goals of equality and diversity. Each nominee will be evaluated on how closely they meet the specified criteria and qualifications.

The business or individual must live or work in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington counties in Indiana or Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Categories for this Award are:

  • Diversity Champion Award — Small Business (Business with 50 or less employees)
  • Diversity Champion Award — Large Business (Business with more than  50 employees)
  • Diversity Excellence Award — Outstanding minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned or disadvantaged business

An independent panel of judges with experience in formal diversity efforts, not employed by 1si, volunteer their time to review the applications. Judging will be solely based upon the information supplied within this application.
