UK barely stays in AP Top 25

UofL ranked No. 17, UK No. 23

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2016) — Not too long ago the University of Kentucky basketball team was the No. 1 team in the nation. But after a series of losses to unranked teams the Wildcats have tumbled, barely cracking The Associated Press Top 25 this week, falling from No. 14 to No. 23.

baskebtallUK (13-4) lost to unranked Auburn (8-8) 75-70 on Saturday and has gone 2-2 in its last four games, also losing to LSU 85-67 and narrowly holding on to top Mississippi State 80-74. The only convincing win was 77-61 against Alabama. UK, which is ranked No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, plays Thursday at Arkansas and hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Louisville (14-3) remained at No. 17 in the AP Top 25 and is ranked No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cardinals host Florida State on Wednesday and travel to Georgia Tech Saturday.

Oklahoma is No. 1 in both polls.
