Committee selected to help find next Gateway Community and Technical College president

Hope to have new president by July 1

VERSAILLES, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2016) — A presidential profile development committee has been selected to assist in the search for the next president of Gateway Community and Technical College (GCTC). The committee was chosen by GCTC board chair Jeffrey Groob and Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Jay Box.

gatewayThe committee includes community leaders, representing key constituencies for the college, as well as its multiple service areas. Faculty and staff also comprise the committee, representing multiple disciplines, services and campuses. Groob will chair the committee.

Community members include:

  • Jeffrey Groob, GCTC board chair
  • Leo Calderon, director of Latino programs and services, Northern Kentucky University
  • Judy Clabes, editor and publisher, KyForward
  • Alvin Garrison, superintendent, Covington Independent School District
  • Jim Parsons, attorney and Gateway Foundation chair
  • Mike Vogt, vice president of human resources and external affairs, Mazek Corp

GCTC representatives:

  • Dawn Bloemer, paramedic program coordinator
  • Justin Ervin, associate professor
  • Denise Fritsch, director of library and information services
  • Peg Russell, regional director of adult education
  • Jerrod Young, associate vice president of Gateway Corporate College

The search process begins with the development of the presidential profile, or key qualities, expected of the next president. This work forms the basis for a national ad. The committee’s work will continue into early spring, as the list of candidates is narrowed. In May, the top three candidates will be invited to the college for interviews with faculty, staff, students and community members.

The GCTC board of directors ultimately recommends the preferred candidate to Box. The goal is to have the new president in place no later than July 1. KCTCS Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Keith Bird has served as interim president of GCTC since Oct. 1, 2015.
