Petersburg, Ky. – The Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plan Wednesday night to increase the size of the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky.

Organizers of the facility want to add a three-story, 210,000-s.f. building on the property and parking lots, as well as space for traveling exhibits. The current size of the facility is 75,000 s.f.

The expansion would nearly triple the facility’s size and cost more than $15 million, which organizers – Christian creationist ministry Answers in Genesis – plan to pay for through donations.

The expansion would allow the facility – which depicts Earth as being approximately 6,000 years old and shows the coexistence of humans and dinosaurs – to add more attractions.

The plan now goes to the Boone County Fiscal Court in the spring for approval.
