Free shuttle service offered for Kentucky Crafted: The Market on March 5

UK home game scheduled that day

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 22, 2016) — The Kentucky Arts Council will provide free shuttle service on March 5 to Kentucky Crafted: The Market from the parking lot of Southland Christian Church, 2349 Richmond Road in Lexington.

artsKentucky Crafted: The Market is the Kentucky Arts Council’s signature event produced each year featuring the highest quality art, craft, literature, music and food found in the state. Dozens of Kentucky Crafted and select out-of-state artists, musicians and artisanal food producers make their finest work available to the general public during the two-day event.

The Market’s opening retail day coincides with a 2 p.m. University of Kentucky men’s basketball against LSU that will likely cause overflow crowds at Lexington Convention Center and in many downtown Lexington public parking areas.

The arts council is offering free parking and shuttle service to Market guests to alleviate traffic concerns. Shuttle service will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on March 5 only. The shuttle will run continuously. Parking and pick up will be located at the southeast entrance of the church, facing Home Depot.

“Parking is a routinely consistent reason why people avoid downtown during high-volume traffic times, and could be a barrier to potential Market visitors,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “We’ve removed that barrier in a way that we feel is most convenient to our patrons.”

For more information about the service, contact David Blevins, arts council arts marketing director, at 502-564-3757, ext. 473, or [email protected]. If you have questions about accommodations for a disability, contact Sarah Schmitt, 502-564-3757, ext. 492.
