Kentucky Crafted named a top 20 event in southeast

Frankfort, Ky. – The Southeast Tourism Society has named Kentucky Crafted: The Market one of the STS Top 20 Events in the Southeast for March 2016.

Presented annually by the Kentucky Arts Council, The Market is March 5-6 at the Lexington Convention Center. The STS Top 20 Festival and Event Awards have highlighted programs around the Southeast since 1985. The Market has earned this distinction numerous times.

“To be singled out by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of their top 20 events is truly an honor,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “Their organization reaches several media outlets, as well as web users, who will all know that we’ve got something special going on here in Kentucky in March.”

Kentucky Crafted: The Market is the arts council’s signature event featuring the highest quality art, craft, literature, music and food found in the state. Dozens of Kentucky Crafted and select out-of-state artists, musicians and artisanal food producers make their finest work available to the general public during the two-day event.

“The Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Festival and Event list is an excellent guide for the Southeast’s visitors and residents. Events selected represent the best, and often most unique, activities in our region,” said Bill Hardman, Southeast Tourism Society president and CEO.

Events considered for the STS Top 20 recognition must be at least three years old and have attendance of at least 1,000.

The Market will be 9 a.m.-7 p.m. March 5 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 6 at the Lexington Convention Center. Tickets to Kentucky Crafted: The Market, which includes access to all exhibits and activities, are available at the door and are $10 for one day or $15 for two days. Children 15 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. For more information about Kentucky Crafted: The Market, visit the arts council’s website.
