Nominations being accepted for inaugural Lexington Hospitality Awards

Honors volunteers in the tourism and hospitality industry

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 3, 2016) — Nominations are being accepted through March 31 for the inaugural Lexington Hospitality Awards, presented by the Bluegrass Hospitality Association and the Bluegrass Tourism and Marketing Association.

Awards will honor front-line staff and volunteers in the tourism and hospitality industry in Lexington who have demonstrated exceptional service. Individuals eligible for nomination are non-managerial and non-supervisory staff or volunteers at Lexington attractions (includes tour guides), Blue Grass Airport, accommodations, restaurants and Lexington Center. Nominees should have direct contact or provide support to visitors and customers and be an outstanding ambassador for Lexington.

“The people working in Lexington’s tourism industry truly make our destination memorable for visitors,” said Mary Quinn Ramer, VisitLEX president. “Their attentive customer service and gracious hospitality help create unforgettable experiences, which is critical to ensuring repeat visitation.”

Lexington attracted double-digit growth in tourism in 2015. Increases in local food and beverage attractions in addition to hosting the Breeders’ Cup Championships contributed to this growth. Lexington received high marks from Breeders’ Cup for providing an exceptional visitor experience both at Keeneland Race Course and venues throughout the city.
