LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 10, 2016) — The Western Kentucky University men’s basketball team upset No. 1 seed UAB 88-77 on Thursday in the Conference USA quarterfinals at Bartow Arena in in Birmingham, Ala.
The Hilltoppers (18-15) grabbed the lead early and net let up, beating UAB (26-6) to advance to Friday’s 3 p.m. semifinals against the winner of today’s Louisiana Tech/Old Dominion game. The game will air on the American Sports Network.
Frederick Edmond had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead WKU. Nigel Snipes had 18 points, hitting four 3-pointers, Justin Johnson had 14 points and 15 rebounds, Aaron Crosby had 12 points and Ben Lawson had 10 points.
WKU advanced to the quarterfinals with an 84-76 victory Wednesday against North Texas.
