Kentucky OneHealth, Baptist Health Lexington CMOs named to list of ‘100 Hospital and Health System CMOs to Know’

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 24, 2016) ­— Damian “Pat” Alagia, chief physician executive and chief medical officer (CMO) of KentuckyOne Health, and James Borders, CMO of Baptist Health Lexington, have been named to Becker’s Hospital Review list of “100 Hospital and Health System CMOs to Know.”

The list is comprised of “physician leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to improving and innovating on patient safety and quality endeavors,” states Becker’s Hospital Review.

CMOs and other equivalent titles on the list have exhibited “dedication to clinical leadership and have contributed to establishing standards of excellence at their respective organizations,” states Becker’s Hospital Review. “Nominations were considered and leaders were selected through an editorial review process.”

Damian “Pat” Alagia III, MD. Chief Physician Executive and CMO of KentuckyOne Health 

Dr. Alagia began his career as a solo practitioner focusing on obstetrics and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He later served as president of the Medical Society of the District of Columbia, vice chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington and was a founding member of Washington, D.C.-based George Washington University Hospital’s minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery program. Dr. Alagia joined KentuckyOne Health in his current appointment in September 2013.

James Borders, MD. CMO of Baptist Health Lexington

Dr. Borders has been a member of the Baptist Health medical staff since 1988. He has served as chairman of the Kentucky Medical Association Council since 1992 and chairman of the Baptist Health Lexington Continuing Education Committee since 1991. Dr. Borders is a principal investigator with Central Kentucky Associates, having worked on more than 130 clinical trials since 2005. He is a board-certified internist.
