VERSAILLES, Ky. (April 5, 2016) — Dr. Mary Elizabeth Stivers has been appointed vice president of Academic Affairs at Midway University. She will oversee all aspects of the university’s academics for undergraduate and graduate students, including its three schools, the student success center, multicultural and international affairs, information technology, and the library. She also oversees student affairs, which comprises student involvement and leadership, residence life, health services, and campus ministry.

“Dr. Stivers comes to Midway with an outstanding record of success in similar positions,” said Dr. John P. We are fortunate that she has joined us.”

Stivers comes to Midway after spending nearly a decade as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Grand View University in Des Moines. During her time in that role, she led an overhaul of the schools’ core curriculum, launched a graduate program in Innovative Leadership, and established an Office of International Programs to promote study abroad opportunities and build partnerships with foreign universities.

Before beginning a career in administration, Stivers taught at Middle Tennessee State University and Berry College. She holds a Ph.D. in Child and Family Studies from the University of Tennessee. She is a native Kentuckian and spent her childhood in London.
