Art auction to benefit art programs at Lexington schools

Bidding open from May 13-20

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 15, 2016) — Sale of art from REIMAGINE 2016—a charitable art exhibition currently on display at the Lexington Downtown Arts Center, will benefit local schools art programs.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 2.47.33 PMREIMAGINE is presented annually by the Creative Alliance for Arts Education and serves as way for local students and artists to create unique, collaborative works. It is also a way for the community to see local talent and purchase custom art pieces that will benefit Lexington schools.

This year, 30 artists and nine elementary schools are involved in the project and exhibition. Children at each school created art pieces, and then each artist selected a piece to recreate using his/her own style and medium. The works are displayed side-by-side, and are available to view at the DAC until June 5.

Open bidding for the works is from May 13–20, with final bidding on May 20, from 5–8 p.m. during the Lexington Gallery Hop.

In the past two years, CAAE has granted nearly $6,000 for school art programs through sales from the REIMAGINE exhibit.
