Blue Grass Airport adding new non-stop flights to New York/Newark

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 19, 2016) – United Airlines and Blue Grass Airport said today new daily non-stop service from Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport (LEX) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Service will begin on July 1, 2016 and is available for customers to book immediately.

“This new flight is an excellent opportunity for travelers to access this popular gateway for New York City as well as a connection point for international destinations,” said Eric Frankl, executive director at Blue Grass Airport. “United Airlines now provides service to three destinations — Chicago O’Hare, Houston and Newark. We are thankful for the airline’s commitment to our community and appreciate the investment they have made to serve the transportation needs of our region.”

Newark Liberty International Airport is located only 14 miles from Manhattan, serving a significant role for passenger travel for the New York/Newark metropolitan area. United Airlines serves approximately 80 daily non-stop flights to more than 70 international destinations from Newark. Flights from Lexington will operate on a 50-seat regional jet.

Blue Grass Airport is served by four major airlines providing non-stop service to 18 cities and connecting service to hundreds of destinations worldwide.
