Keeneland: Dee Dee Bertie wins Thursday’s featured Glencrest Purse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 21, 2016) – Richard and Bertram Klein’s Dee Dee Bertie took the lead out of the gate and never was headed in winning the $62,000 Glencrest Purse for fillies and mares by one length over Romantic Vision before a Thursday afternoon crowd of 9,530. Click here for a replay of the race.

Trained by Charlie LoPresti and ridden by Brian Hernandez Jr., Dee Dee Bertie covered the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:45.11 in making her first start in nearly nine months.

The victory was worth $37,200 for Dee Dee Bertie, who was winning for the second time in four starts. The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Bluegrass Cat out of the De Niro mare De Bertie has earned $63,041.

Dee Dee Bertie returned $12, $5.40 and $3.20. Romantic Vision, ridden by Joe Bravo, returned $4.80 and $2.80 and finished 3 3/4 lengths in front of favored Queen’s Princess, who paid $2.40 to show under Jesus Castanon.

Racing continues Friday with a 10-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. ET. The card also features the 2016 debut of the Grade 1-winning filly I’m a Chatterbox in the Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare (G3) that goes as the ninth race at 5:30 p.m.
