Presidential finalists named for Gateway Community and Technical College

Three finalists to visit school May 26-27

VERSAILLES, Ky. (May 18, 2016) — Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Jay Box announced today the finalists for the position of president/CEO of Gateway Community and Technical College (GCTC).

Finalists are:

  • Dr. Cristobal Valdez, president, Central Wyoming College
  • Dr. Anthony Cruz, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio
  • Dr. Fernando Figueroa, vice chancellor for Educational Policy, Dallas County Community College District

The candidates are scheduled for on-campus visits and interviews May 26-27. During those visits candidates will meet with GCTC faculty, staff, students, the board of directors and local leaders. The public also will have an opportunity to meet the candidates at forums on the Boone Campus. The new president assumes the position July 1.

May 26 


  • Dr. Cristobal Valdez: 7:30–8:30 a.m. – Community forum;
10–11 a.m. – student/faculty/staff forum
  • Dr. Anthony Cruz: 8:45–9:45 a.m. – Community forum; 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. – student/faculty/staff forum

  • Dr. Fernando Figueroa: 7:30–8:30 a.m. – Community forum;
10–11 a.m. – student/faculty/staff forum
