Morehead State University to double openings for nursing program

Will increase from 60 to 120 students each year

MOREHEAD, Ky. (May 27, 2016) — Morehead State University’s Department of Nursing will be expanding its traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program by adding 60 additional students in the spring 2017.

Each fall semester, 60 students are admitted into the BSN. Beginning with the spring 2017 semester, a class of up to 60 students who meet admission criteria will be added.

“We need more registered nurses to fill vacancies in our hospitals and health care agencies in the Eastern Kentucky region and across the commonwealth,” Dr. Lynn C. Parsons, Department of Nursing chair.

According to Dr. Parsons, MSU’s Department of Nursing has a 100 percent job placement rate within six months of graduation, and graduates work at hospitals, hospices, long term-care centers, doctor’s offices and other health care facilities throughout the Commonwealth and the U.S.

The application deadline for the spring 2017 cohort is Oct. 15. For more information and application materials, visit www.morheadstate.edu/nursing.
