MOREHEAD, Ky. (June 17, 2016) — Dr. Chris Miller has been named interim dean of the College of Education at Morehead State University, effective July 1.

Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Science from MSU and a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Education from the University of Kentucky.

Miller began at MSU as an instructor in 2001 and an assistant professor in 2003. He was promoted to associate professor in 2008, professor of education in 2013 and became the chair of the Department of Foundational and Graduate Studies in the College of Education.

Miller has led the development of the Educational Technology graduate program and was a co-developer of MSU’s first doctoral program in Educational Leadership. He has developed one undergraduate and 10 graduate educational technology courses and co-developed 10 doctoral level courses and chaired seven doctoral students in the program.

Miller’s research has focused on distance learning, instructional design, games in education and comics as new media for instruction.

Miller has served as president of the Kentucky Association for Teacher Educators (KATE) and president of the Multimedia Production Division and Division of Distance Learning for the Association of Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), an international professional organization. He received the AECT Presidential Service Award in 2009 and is currently the president-elect of the Educational Communications Foundation, a non-profit organization associated with the AECT. He also has served on the Gateway Regional Arts Center Board in Mt. Sterling.
