VIDEO: Ark Encounter expects 1.4 million visitors in first year

Attraction opens Thursday

WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. (July 5, 2016) — The Ark Encounter, which opens Thursday, is expected to draw 1.4 millions visitors in the first year of operation, officials said. Ark Encounter is a life-size version of Noah’s Ark located of KY 36 (Exit 154 on I-75).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today for the Ark, which is 500 feet long and 51 feet tall. The $90 million project is expected to have a $4 billion economic impact over the next 10 years.

With long lines expected, the queue line has been turned into an exhibit itself, showcasing preparations Noah and his family made for the voyage and what that time might have looked like for him and his family.

There will be two themes in the queue line—one about Noah and his family packing and the other about the construction of the Ark. In the cargo area, guests will see lots of wooden boxes, including some specially painted ones that represent special family heirlooms or personal belongings taken on board the Ark.
