PuraCap International LLC (PuraCap), a generic pharmaceutical company based in South Plainfield, N.J., has recently acquired a local company, Blu Pharmaceuticals, located on Highway 1008 in Franklin in Simpson County.
The business will be renamed PuraCap Laboratories. This acquisition will mean that PuraCap’s new Franklin facility will be the worldwide distribution center for the PuraCap family of companies.
“This should create additional distribution related jobs at the Franklin facility in the coming years,” said Sean Weeks, President of PuraCap International (which owns PuraCap Laboratories). “Franklin’s location is ideal and is strategic within the major transportation hubs and access to customer distribution centers. This site will be a great asset to us in insuring our products can be delivered efficiently throughout the United States.”
In addition to distribution, a new packaging operation has been started at the Franklin facility. A blister packaging line is already operational and a bottle packaging line is currently being installed to handle additional packaging from other PuraCap subsidiaries. Additional packaging lines will be installed in the future. The acquisition by PuraCap could see as many as forty new jobs being created at the former Blu Pharmaceuticals distribution center.
