FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 20, 2016) — Ashley Thomas was promoted to payroll branch manager for the Division of Personnel at the Kentucky Department of Corrections, effective July 1.
Thomas began her career in state government in 2010 as an administrative specialist with the Energy and Environment Cabinet. In November 2012, she transferred to the Labor Cabinet in the Division of Management Services, where she was a time administrator and a human resource liaison.
In November 2014, Thomas received a promotion to human resource specialist III and transferred to the Department of Corrections in the Division of Personnel Services. She later became a human resource administrator and has served as Central Office’s payroll contact, the workers’ compensation administrator for the agency, and provided payroll support for the state institutions.
Thomas is a 2013 graduate of Kentucky State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in public administration. She is a member of the Kentucky Chapter International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). In 2015, she received the Department of Corrections Rookie of the Year Award.
