FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 26, 2016) — Steve Faulkner has been promoted to Director of the Corrections Training Division, Department of Corrections Commissioner Rodney Ballard announced today.

Faulkner started his career with DOC in July 1996 as a correctional officer at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. He was promoted through the security ranks to the position of captain and was also the assistant commander for the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT). In 2005, he transferred to Frankfort Career Development Center where he held the position of administrative captain.

Faulkner was promoted to training instructor/coordinator I at the Harold E. Black Training Center located in LaGrange. In 2008, he was promoted to administrative branch manager at the Judge Bill Cunningham Training Facility located in Fredonia on the grounds of Western Kentucky Correctional Complex. In 2009, Faulkner transferred back to the Harold E. Black Training Center as the administrative branch manager. He has been part of CERT throughout his career and is currently the state training coordinator for the team.

During his career, he has obtained extensive training experience from both within and outside of the department gaining multiple master trainer certifications in courses. Faulkner is currently a member of the TASER Training Advisory Board that creates and administers training for law enforcement officers around the world.

Faulkner is a graduate of the 2009 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program. He is also a U.S. Army Veteran, having served as an Infantryman for four years.
