Jewish Hospital, St. Mary’s Foundation host 3rd annual Boots & BBQ Bash

Country western themed fundraiser to benefit children’s center at Our Lady of Peace

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2016) — It’s time to bring out your country western boots and ten-gallon hats to help benefit the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health. Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Foundation will host the Third Annual Boots & BBQ Bash fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 6-10 p.m. at the Gheens Foundation Lodge at Beckley Creek Park, located at 1421 Beckley Creek Parkway in Louisville. This event will benefit children’s services at Our Lady of Peace.

“The Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace has transformed into an amazing place for children’s care,” said Jennifer Nolan, president of Our Lady of Peace. “Each year, the Boots & BBQ Bash raises money to help fund a more kid-friendly atmosphere at the facility, and I’m excited to see how this year’s event will benefit the children. Everyone who participates is making a significant impact on the lives of these children, and for that, we are so grateful.”

More than 1,500 kids each year are helped by the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace. Our Lady of Peace was founded in the 1950s for adults, but as the focus has shifted to children’s care as well, the hospital has taken significant steps to transform the physical facility into a child-focused environment for those in need. Projects have included new play areas and renovations to make the cafeteria more kid-friendly.

The Boots & BBQ Bash will include silent and live auctions, dinner, a patient story video, and live music from local band Nervous Melvin and The Mistakes. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres begin at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m., and music and dancing from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress in “country chic” attire. Kevin Harned, chief meteorologist for WAVE 3 News, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Participation opportunities ranging from individual tickets to corporate sponsorships are available. Individual tickets cost $100. For more information on sponsorship packages and tickets, visit www.kentuckyonehealth.com/bootsandbbq or call 502.587.4596.
