LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2016) — The University of Louisville football team is ranked No. 23 in the preseason Coaches Poll, released today. Western Kentucky received 11 votes. Defending national champion Alabama is No. 1, followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Stanford, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
Louisville went 8-5 last year (5-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference), beating Texas A&M 27-21 in the Music City Bowl. Louisville opens the season Sept. 1 at home against Charlotte.
Western Kentucky went 12-2 last year (8-0 in Conference USA), beating South Florida 45-35 in the Miami Beach Bowl. WKU opens the season Sept. 1 at home against Rice.
