JCTC names chief fundraising officer

Current state director of the March of Dimes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 19, 2016) — Don Schieman has been named chief fundraising officer at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC), effective Aug. 29. He has more than 30 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.

The Louisville native currently serves as the state director of the March of Dimes in Kentucky and West Virginia, where he oversees fundraising and delivery of programmatic services throughout the two states. Prior to his appointment at March of Dimes, Schieman worked at the Metro-Louisville Baptist Hospital Foundation as the chief operating officer. He has also served as Vice President of Marketing for the Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc. where he increased sponsorships to in excess of $3 million, accounting for almost half of the festival’s annual revenue.

In addition to overseeing the JCTC’s fundraising efforts, Schieman will be responsible for the college’s Institutional Research and Grants and Contract departments.

Schieman will bring his experiences in evolving fundraising programs to achieve the next level along with the current talented team. “We will work to move JCTC forward, building programs that enhance students’ opportunities and improve their educational experience” said Schieman.

Schieman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Bellarmine University and has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, and is currently a member of the Fundraising Executives of Metro Louisville.
