LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 28, 2016) — Total Wine & More, America’s largest independent retailer of fine wine, spirits and beer, has announced the opening of its first store in Kentucky. Located in the former Earth Fare location at the Paddock Shops, 4320 Summit Plaza Dr. #5, it will open to the public on Thursday, Oct. 6 with a grand opening celebration featuring live music, free wine tastings and special giveaways to the first 100 people in line. For hours and a list of events, visit www.totalwine.com.

To kick off its contributions to local non-profits, Total Wine & More will donate 10 percent of all wine sales opening weekend (Oct. 6 through Oct. 9) to the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts to help support its statewide community arts outreach.

“Our partnership with the Kentucky Center is the first of many donations we will make in greater Louisville,” said Edward Cooper, Total Wine’s vice president for public affairs and community relations. “Last year, Total Wine & More worked with over 8,000 non-profit charitable organizations in 18 states, providing nearly $7 million in-cash and in-kind donations that, in turn, helped our partners raise in excess of $35 million for their great causes and efforts. Our new Louisville store will continue to demonstrate this dedication to the local community.”

Louisville’s Total Wine & More, which boasts 25,000 square feet of retail space, offers an unmatched selection of more than 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers, including a large amount of local and Kentucky Proud favorites. A temperature-controlled wine cellar; cigar humidor; padded floors; tasting bar; “brewery district” with a growler station; concierge service; and online ordering with in-store pick up are some of many shopping perks.

“Total Wine & More delivers exactly what customers are seeking – service, selection, and price,” said David Trone, who co-owns Total Wine with his brother, Robert Trone. “Our investment into Louisville goes beyond bricks and mortar. We are committed to this dynamic community and look forward to supporting local businesses and charities as we bring shoppers the very best products at the most competitive prices.”

Characterized by a bright, open design, the superstore features Total Wine’s signature blend of cutting-edge technology and customer convenience.

“Total Wine delivers the ‘wow factor’ that today’s customers deserve,” said Cooper. “From exploring aisles filled with unique wines and spirits, roving the “brewery district” that features the best in craft beer, to using our state-of-the-art app that seamlessly pairs your favorite foods with wines at a variety of price points, to enjoying dozens of wine, beer and spirits classes taught by our experts in our high-tech classroom, we are consistently focused on giving shoppers the ultimate customer service experience.”

The shopping experience is enhanced by Total Wine & More’s team. Before they assist their first customer, Total Wine team members participate in more than 150 hours of specialized instruction on various wine regions, production methods, varietals, brew styles, and tasting profiles. This training allows Total Wine to provide the industry’s best in customer service and knowledge which is readily shared with customers, be it in the aisles of the stores or during one of the many “virtual tasting” sessions featuring national and international “rock star” vintners, brewers and distillers held in the classroom.

“Exceptional customer service makes all the difference in retail, and it’s an area that sets us apart,” said Cooper. “In addition to their initial training, our team members participate in ongoing education conducted weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. To ensure that our customers are served by the best trained staff in the country, we take more than 70 team members each year on an educational trip to Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries, and, every other year, take more than 50 team members to Europe to experience and learn about great wines in France, Spain and Italy. Investing in a highly-educated and helpful staff is a big part of our commitment to serving our customers.”
