Company to add national service center in Adair County
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 5, 2016) – Brown & Brown Inc., a leading diversified insurance broker, will expand in Columbia with a 25-job, national personal-lines sales and service center next to its current offices, Gov. Matt Bevin announced today.
“Brown & Brown Insurance, through its offices in Columbia and Louisville, has served as a great corporate partner to Kentucky over the years. We are excited to hear that they will be increasing their employment and presence in Adair County,” Gov. Bevin said. “We are grateful for this investment and the jobs it will create, and we congratulate Brown & Brown on moving forward with this national service center project.”
Brown & Brown plans to invest $1.5 million for leasing and outfitting a 5,000-square-foot building planned for construction near its current Columbia office, as well as other activities supporting its new national personal-lines sales and service center.

Established in Daytona Beach, Fla. in 1939, Brown & Brown, through its subsidiaries, offers a broad range of insurance products and related services. The Insurance Information Institute in 2015 ranked Brown & Brown seventh on its list of top global insurance brokers with $1.657 billion in brokerage revenues.
Sen. Max Wise, of Campellsville, said he looks forward to seeing Brown & Brown expand and create jobs.

Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick described Brown & Brown as a great asset to the community.
“I am very pleased with the recent announcement that Brown & Brown Insurance will be locating their 25-employee call center in Columbia/Adair County,” Mayor Hardwick said. “Brown & Brown has been a great asset to our community and will continue to provide quality jobs to our citizens.”
Adair County Judge-Executive Michael Lee Stephens said he watched the project evolve over the past several months.
“Today I am so very pleased to be part of this announcement for the people of Adair County and south central Kentucky. What a great accomplishment,” Judge Stephens said. “I am so proud to represent Adair County in partnering with this business which will have such a positive impact on our local economic development with a $1.5-million-dollar investment and creating an additional 25 jobs for our community. To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in August preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $400,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the agreement term through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
Additionally, Brown & Brown can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. Last year, the Kentucky Skills Network trained more than 84,000 employees from more than 5,600 Kentucky companies.
