WILMORE, Ky. (Oct. 17, 2016) — The Asbury Project will be held from Nov. 10-11 in Wilmore. The free event, co-hosted by Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary, takes a radically Kingdom-focused approach to business, exploring the ways mission and social entrepreneurship interact in the marketplace.

A lineup of keynote speakers will explore the ways business can serve Kingdom purposes. This year’s speakers include Dwight Gibson (CEO, The Exploration Group); Chris Horst (vice president of Development, HOPE International); and Lonnie Riley (director, Meridzo Center Ministries).

Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary students who submitted plans for the Student Business Plan Competition have had the opportunity to be mentored by local business leaders, as well as Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary faculty. Making their presentations before a live audience, students will compete for a total of $10,000 in prizes to use to launch their businesses.

“The Asbury Project offers students valuable professional perspectives and experience, but even more importantly, it underscores the power of Kingdom-minded entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Mike Kane, dean of Asbury University’s Howard Dayton School of Business. “These business plans aren’t just about profit — they are predicated on the idea that Christians in business have the opportunity and the responsibility to make a difference through the marketplace.”
