FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2016) — The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting entries for a traveling exhibit that will tour Kentucky libraries in 2017 and 2018.
The exhibit, titled “The Illustrated Word,” is open to all Kentucky residents, age 18 and older. The theme connects visual art with literature. Artwork may reference a specific piece of writing or it may include text.
“It’s exciting to be able to offer a new exhibit opportunity, especially one that will visit many Kentucky communities,” said Lydia Bailey Brown, Kentucky Arts Council executive director. “We’ve opened ‘The Illustrated Word’ up to all Kentucky artists because we know they are up to the challenge presented by this unique theme.”
“The Illustrated Word” will be on view in selected libraries across the state with gallery facilities. It will also be on exhibit at Kentucky Crafted: The Market, April 22-23 at the Lexington Convention Center.
Artwork must be installation ready for wall hanging, with a depth of no more than 6 inches. It should not exceed 36 inches in height or width, nor be heavier than 25 pounds. Media artists may submit video or film for consideration, but they must provide all of the necessary equipment. Visit the arts council website for full submission guidelines.
Application deadline is Dec. 12, and images must be submitted by Dec. 15.
